By an Act of Congress, September 17 of each year has been designated as Constitution Day, in commemoration of the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution of the United States. This Congressional initiative is authorized by Section 111 of Division J of Pub. L. 108-447, the ?Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005,” Dec. 8, 2004; 118 Stat. 2809, 3344-45.

Students are encouraged to access and review the informative web sites identified below in order to renew an understanding of the founding of the United States

Information regarding the Constitution of the United States may be accessed on the following web sites:

    Includes access to a printable copy of the U.S. Constitution as well as a section of interesting facts about the Constitution.
  2. http://memory.loc.gov
    (The United States Archives) Includes a lot of materials about the history of the constitution as well as a copy of the original document.
  3. The federal regulation may be found on the U.S. Department of Education website, www.ed.gov; type in “Constitution Day” on the search blank.
  4. The National Archives also has a Web site with a scan of the U.S. Constitution available

    The National Archives has a nationwide network of research facilities, including presidential libraries. Information about the facilities (by region and state) can be located online at this site.
